# Update Version

> Update an existing version.

The parent of a revision is set when the version is created, with `parent_version_id` on [`versions.create`](https://docs.galtea.ai/sdk/api/version/create), and cannot change.

## Returns

Returns the updated [Version](https://docs.galtea.ai/concepts/product/version.md) object.

## Example

## Parameters

**version\_id** `string` *required*

ID of the version to update.

**name** `string`

New name for the version. A name of `v` followed by digits is reserved for a version number, so
the platform accepts it only when it is this version's own label.

**description** `string`

New version description.

**system\_prompt** `string`

New system prompt used for the version.

**model\_id** `string`

New reference to a [model](https://docs.galtea.ai/concepts/model.md) configured in the Galtea Platform. It must be one of your
organization's models or a global model. `None` clears the model.

**dataset\_description** `string`

New description of the dataset used for training.

**dataset\_uri** `string`

New URI to the dataset.

**guardrails** `string`

New configuration for safety guardrails.

**facts** `dict[str, str]`

New [facts](https://docs.galtea.ai/concepts/product/version.md#version-facts): the agent state this version represents, as
a flat map of text to text. Two live versions of one product cannot hold the same facts. When the version has
no model and you send no `model_id`, a [model fact](https://docs.galtea.ai/concepts/product/version.md#model-facts) links the model.

**otel\_output\_source\_rule** `dict`

New rule that recovers the user-visible reply from a non-LLM span. The version value overrides the product value, which overrides the organization value.

New rule that recovers the user message from a non-LLM span. The version value overrides the product value, which overrides the organization value.

**conversation\_endpoint\_connection\_id** `string`

New [endpoint connection](https://docs.galtea.ai/concepts/product/endpoint-connection.md) used for conversational
interactions with your AI product.

**initialization\_endpoint\_connection\_id** `string`

New endpoint connection executed before the conversation begins.

**finalization\_endpoint\_connection\_id** `string`

New endpoint connection executed after the conversation ends.

**phone\_connection\_id** `string`

New phone connection used for voice interactions with your AI product.

**web\_rtc\_connection\_id** `string`

New WebRTC connection used for voice interactions with your AI product.

> All fields except `version_id` default to `PydanticUndefined` (from `pydantic_core`).
> Omit a field (or pass `PydanticUndefined`) to leave it unchanged.
> Pass `None` to explicitly clear an optional field.
> Pass a value to update it.
